Total Costs of the Program
The members of the farmers’ organization ALCD (about 500 groups of
farmers) are planning to build stone walls on additional 50.000 hectares of
farmland up to the year 2025. This is a major investment program and the
total costs amount to 9 million EUR or annually 475.000 EUR.
Costs ALCD
In the first operational year (2007) the transition from „PATECORE to
ALCD“ will take place. During this startup phase only very little (if any at
all) can be invested in building stone walls, because the acquisition and
self-marketing for public and private financial resources is quite difficult
and time consuming. In this phase the work will concentrate on the further
organizational and institutional development of the farmers’ groups and
their umbrella organizations. At the same time applications for grants
required for the transportation of stones have to be written and filed. The
costs for minimum basic functions for the ALCD will amount to about 12.000
EUR in the first operational year.
Costs Terra-Verde
Amongst others the most important activities of Terra-Verde e. V. are
public relations and fundraising in addition to the professional support of
the Burkinian partner organization that are needed for the implementation of
the association’s ideas. 12.000 EUR are planned to be able to carry out the
minimum basic functions within the first operational year.

• Various turnover scenarios have been calculated in
the business plan for the first operational year 2007 without building
contour stone walls and in the following years stone walls are to be built
on 1.000 to 3.000 ha of farmland.
